Qatar Fuel Additives Company (QAFAC) Methanol / Ammonia Complex

PegasusTSI was awarded a contract to carry out the Front End Engineering Design for a grass roots Methanol/Ammonia complex in Mesaieed, Qatar for the Qatar Fuel Additives Company Limited (QAFAC). QAFAC is a joint stock company with a majority shareholding by Qatar. QAFAC is presently the major manufacturer of Methanol and MTBE in Qatar.

The project involved the integration of the design data from the process licensors in Denmark and Germany, Topsoe for Ammonia and Lurgi for Methanol respectively). The plant is located in the Mesaieed Industrial Complex in Qatar adjacent to the existing QAFAC Plant. The methanol plant was designed for a capacity of 6750 TPD which will make it the largest single train methanol plant in the world.

As part of the scope of work for this project PegasusTSI delivered an integrated ISBL/OSBL FEED, developed a definitive capital cost control estimate and prepared the Invitation to Bid (ITB) package for EPC LSTK bidding. PegasusTSI delivered an integrated FEED package whereby all opportunities for synergy and energy integration were fully capitalized upon.
